Yesterday was a very special day for three reasons: first and foremost, I got to meet and speak to Neagu Djuvara, the man whose history documentaries I used to watch as a kid back in the 90s – what an incredible honour! Second of all, I was part of the launch of A Brief Illustrated History of Romanians, the book that had an initial target of one – my wife, Kasia – and will now hopefully reach… well, anyone who speaks English; it was a very humbling thing to be able to speak alongside the book’s illustrious author and HE Martin Harris, the British ambassador, who read a great excerpt from the final chapter of the book. Third of all, I saw old friends and colleagues I had not seen for over 5 years – thanks for the beers, mici and a lovely evening guys!
